Recently, the first mass-produced dual-unit hybrid locomotive equipped with Yuchai's YCK16 500kW Flywheel Range-Extender System rolled off the production line in Ziyang, marking the mature application of Yuchai's flywheel range-extending technology in the rail transit sector.

Featuring a combined solution of the YCK16 engine and 500kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), this locomotive achieves electromechanical coupling hybrid control. As an original flywheel-integrated Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) independently developed by Yuchai, it offers significantly optimized weight and dimensions, along with notably enhanced integration, compared to traditional separate motor solutions.

Furthermore, the dual range-extender Generator Set boasts a peak generating power of up to 1,000 kW, enabling it to haul over 3,000 tons of materials such as coal and steel in a single trip. It reduces fuel consumption by as much as 45% compared to conventional power locomotives, delivering eco-friendly and reliable power support for high-power rail transit equipment.

Previously, locomotives fitted with this range-extender have undergone the "Three Highs" verification (high temperature, high altitude, and high cold). Subsequent optimization and adjustment have reduced power generation fuel consumption and improved environmental adaptability, and following one full year of actual operation, the product has earned high recognition from customers for its outstanding performance.
